Community Garden Project with Habitats & Heritage

In March 2026, Refugees Welcome in Richmond (RWinR), together with Habitats & Heritage, launched the Community Garden Project.

This initiative brings sanctuary seekers together through gardening, wellbeing and community connection. The project was initially created for Ukrainians, with potential to expand to other refugee groups supported by RWinR.

Weekly sessions take place every Wednesday at a welcoming allotment site in Twickenham, where participants have access to a garden bed, greenhouse space, gardening tools and shared facilities. Together, they sow, plant and grow produce while building confidence, routine and social connections.

The project aims to reduce isolation, support mental wellbeing and create a calm, inclusive environment where people can learn new skills, share experiences and feel part of the local community. No previous gardening experience is needed.
